Introduction to Scratch Programming (1-7 Grade)

The course covers essential programming concepts taught through Scratch as well as interactive activities, games, and peer collaboration. Through this program, students will organically make connections between Scratch, general coding, computer science, and core curricular areas.
At the end of the program, each student will present their work to peers and parents.

Students will learn to program the mBot robot. This program incorporates various learning modalities and set the foundation for computation thinking, an essential skill for today’s learners. The course will cover essential robotics programming concepts as well as interactive activities, games, and peer collaboration.
At the end of the program, each student will present their work to peers and parents.

This class introduces participants to the art and technique of podcasting. It will take them through the steps required to make a podcast, including planning, recording, editing, and publishing.
At the end of the program, each student will have completed a short podcast on a subject of their own choice that will be available to be downloaded.

SATURDAYS, 11:00AM – 12:30AM
Students will gain a fundamental understanding of 3D Modeling and 3D Printing and will learn the Design Thinking Process through a series of short-term projects.
Students will use TinkerCAD and MakerBot Replicator printers to understand the process by which they can design and execute a 3D print.curricular areas.

SATURDAYS, 1:00PM – 2:30AM
This class introduces students to the art and technique of filmmaking using stop-motion techniques. It will take them through the steps required to make a short stop-motion movie, including writing a script, drawing a storyboard, developing characters, making puppets or using Lego®, shooting scenes, editing and adding sound effects.
At the end of the program, each student will have completed a short movie on a subject of their own choice.
